It’s Pride month! June was named LGBTQ+ Pride month after New York City’s Stonewall uprisings in 1969. 51 years later, New York has made significant progress towards equality for all New Yorkers. However, LGBTQ+ New Yorkers, especially LGBTQ+ New Yorkers of color as well as trans, gender nonconforming, nonbinary, and intersex New Yorkers, still struggle to get equitable medical care. What can New York do to support trans, gender nonconforming, nonbinary, and intersex folks in the healthcare system? Additionally, what can New York do to support them outside the healthcare system too?
